Dayton’s “vision for the future” is making strides in the beautification of its downtown. The downtown area in the past year has seen several historic buildings renovated with plans for a new restaurant by longtime Dayton restaurateur Christopher Czarnecki. The Barlow Room, opening Spring 2014, will be a comfortable and historic restaurant and bar with seasonal outdoor seating, will feature a casual dining menu, inspired by Northwest cuisine, with a distinctive yet classic cocktail, wine and beer selection. The decor is inspired by the Oregon pioneer spirit and local Dayton history. The exposed brick walls showcase historic photos of Dayton and the Willamette Valley, providing a sense of history.
Other businesses expanding include Archie’s Ice Cream and Deli, and the Block House Cafe. The Block House Cafe’s new location will feature courtyard dining. One of the historic buildings currently under renovation is working on securing a new business for the first floor and will feature 8 condo-style overnight accommodation units upstairs. This will allow guests to stay in downtown Dayton. Many great things are happening in Dayton’s historic downtown![space5]
