  • Yamhill Lavender Festival, July 14-15, 2012: Sponsored by Yamhelas Community Resource Center and located at Beulah Park in Yamhill, the Yamhill Lavendar Festivall features live music, art, handmade crafts, live art, food, beverages and lavender. Admission is free but canned food donations are accepted.
  • Yamhill Derby Days, July 21, 2012: The event dates back to the 1950s, when it started as a derby car race for kids. Derby cars are still a main attraction, along with a big parade, a road run, frog jumping, music, bingo and other activities in Beulah Park.
  • Easter Egg Hunt, last Sat. before Easter
  • Carlton Fun Days, June 22-23, 2012: Carlton Fun Days is a family-friendly party celebrating the great little town of Carlton, the neighboring sister city to Yamhill. about celebrating Carlton, a great little town. It is about the people and businesses that make Carlton special. This event takes place in the Lower Park (Wenneberg Park). There is a Fun Run/Walk, parade, vendor booths, food booths, entertainment, photo contest, silent auction, free children’s games, pancake breakfast, and many other activities.

Notable Yamhill Residents

American Author “Beverly Cleary” April 12, 1916 raised in Yamhill and has written more than thirty books for young adults and children such as Henry Huggins, Beezus & Ramona, Ramona Forever, and Ramona the Pest!

Nicholas Kristof, a two-time Pluitzer Prize winning journalist, author, and columnist, was raised in Yamhill. He is widely known for bringing to light human rights abuses in Asia and Africa, such as human trafficking and the Darfur conflict. Quote from Bill Clinton in Sept 2009; “There is no one in journalism any where in the United States at least who has done anything like the work he has done to figure out how poor people are living around the world and what their potential is.”
